Q: Do you have any information of the
effects of corsetry when I have my periods? Does it help or hinder period pain?
A: Menstruation varies greatly amongst all women, and in general the occasional tightlacer will need to relax the lacing. In a trained individual, the overall effect is less, because the body has adapted. There can be disruption of the period cycle in the case of extreme lacing combined with excessive dieting. The same occurs in anorexic women, which will trigger energy preservation of the body. When a normal diet is maintained, there should not be any such effect.
