Q: I am beginning to waist-train and wonder how one should sneeze while wearing a tightly fitted corset. Should one sneeze naturally, or try to control oneself? Reason being that I'm afraid to rupture internal organs. The few times that I've sneezed have been rather painful. Which is best? ---Valdemar (11/21/97)

A: Sneezing is a problem when you are tightly laced; either your corset will crack or you will feel more or less pain. The only way is to control yourself - which is not that easy. Due to the internal pressure built up during sneezing, and countered by the unyielding corset, there might always be a risk of medical consequences, particular regarding blood vessels, but also, for example, causing or worsening a hernia. Further advice: don't try to crush-lace!
